Things to remember and to hold onto

So many times we get mad at someone or something that we hold onto that anger and hate and let it drive us. I’m no different, just the this week I blew my stack at people at work calling them whiners and children. Instead of remembering and holding onto that anger and disdain I’m making a conscious effort to remember the important things in life. Instead of remembering that I should remember the love of the girls from the office taking me out to lunch before my trip.

Here’s my list

The smell of my father and the warmth of his arms when I used to sit in his chair with him scared to go to sleep in my room after watching a horror movie.

My mom’s smile when I came down the stairs in my Dress Blues for the first time as a Marine.

The squeak of Glenda’s shoes as she walked down the hospital hallways.

Tyler’s giggle and laugh. Whenever I hear a child laughing so freely like he used to I find myself looking for him.

My sister’s strong yet sarcastic voice on the other end of the phone, one of the few people who can joke with me about death.

These are the important things to remember.

A sweet whisper of a hello at the other end of the phone.

The sweet smell of jasmine in the air…..

What do you remember? What do you hold onto?

My heart is with you and I am praying for you and all the wonderful people who love you so. If I was an angel I would give you miracles and protect you from harm and give all your doctors wisdom beon belief. I want you to come home to us all. If on this mothers day I could have any wish I wanted it would be for you to come home in good health. I hold you in my heart
